Wabi-Sabi, “The perfection of imperfection” has been this tables story for many years now. The Tallowwood tree grew on a hill on the Dorrigo Plateau. It was felled in the late 1980’s by a logger Ken McKenzie. The tree was a double leader, the two logs that Ken was wanting, he left the twisted and bent main trunk on the forest floor. Twenty years later the log was salvaged by the block’s owners. This slab was one of the worst of them. A large void at one end and major rot in the other. The void was infilled with Blackwood ties and the void cut out and infilled with a large piece of Blackwood. The Blackwood came from a paddock no more than 5 km from the Tallowwood slab. The organic curvy base has been designed and hand crafted to complement the Wabi-Sabi top. Oil finish
