As a locally based Furniture/Designer Maker,  my interest lies in crafting “one-off ” Wooden Furniture pieces that are soundly constructed and utilise responsibly sourced hardwoods. I strive to produce work that is visually appealing and evokes an emotional and sensory response.
My varied  influences are  derived from, among others, the American brothers  Greene & Greene, English  Arts and Crafts  practitioners, and  the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh, ( fellow Scotsman!)

Asian Influences also contribute heavily to my draft sketches,  with elements of Japanese joinery techniques and antique Chinese Elm wood furniture, resulting in an eclectic approach,  perhaps traditional form with some contemporary design?
I was extremely fortunate to have been taught “Contemporary Furniture Design & Making”  by the late George Ingham, at Canberra College of Art, A.N.U.
Since then, I have had the amazing experiences of having taught woodwork in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Indonesia, as part of the Australian Overseas Aid Volunteer Programme.
