Penelope Lowther
I am interested in capturing the drama and play of light in the Dorrigo landscape. The huge skies with clouds of all types, that roll in, to the silent mists that suddenly descend and blanket the town. The early morning fogs and the quiet empty streets at night are my inspiration and love.
I moved to Dorrigo three years ago after decades of being a professional Performer and now enjoy painting, drawing and photographing this magical landscape.
Penelope trained in Creative Arts, specialising in sculpture, at the University of Wollongong, 1993-95
She then went on to work as a visual artist, drama and puppetry teacher for numerous organisations in the Illawarra and Sydney region for the next ten years.
In 2001 Penelope ran away and formed a Women’s Community Circus,(Circus WOW) in which she trained, directed and performed.
Penelope continued performing with various Women’s circuses and troupes as well as solo shows until Covid hit.
She then studied with the Byron School of Arts before moving to Dorrigo in 2022.
