I grew up on the banks of the Nepean River sailing, fishing, rock climbing, canyoning and Canoeing. All of these activities meant I spent a lot of time making canoes, paddles and fixing sailing boats…My love of creative construction was born!

I first worked in a joinery in the Blue Mountains, which introduced me to the craft of making fine furniture from beautiful timbers. The love affair is continuing today.

Over the years I have worked in all facets of the timber industry, and with its full range of personalities. On any day I may be scouring the forests with local loggers, setting up exhibitions with gallery directors, teaching furniture design at TAFE, working as a cabinetmaker connecting with architects, builders and home makers or quietly creating the one-off pieces that I love to make.

My love of organic sculptural forms is revealed in my furniture. Furniture legs often curve like the growth of trees; carved handles are similar to the lines of breakers that roll onto our local beaches. Really, can we improve on the beauty of Nature?

Now living on the North Coast of NSW, I have access to many beautiful hardwoods, which I buy in log form from environmentally friendly logging operations. These logs are locally milled. I then kiln dry the timber ready for sale or use. A healthy, well-managed forest that can keep producing timber forever is to see sustainability in action. Timber is truly one of our most renewable resources.

I am happy to talk with you about timber for your own projects and large trade enquiries are welcome.
